On Tuesday 26 November, members of the Flotation Energy team met with the UK Parliament’s Scottish Affairs Committee in Aberdeen, as part of a visit to mark the launch of the committee’s inquiry into GB Energy and the net zero transition
The Flotation Energy team and key stakeholders including KOWL (Kincardine Offshore Wind Limited), ORE Catapult, and ETZ (Energy Transition Zone) welcomed the committee to Aberdeen, to collectively highlight the significant opportunities offered to Scotland by the offshore wind sector, and discuss some of the challenges faced by the industry.
The visit also provided an opportunity to showcase the important role that pioneering projects like Green Volt can play in the net zero transition, and to allow members of the Scottish Affairs Committee to hear first-hand from those working in the offshore wind sector.

Green Volt, being developed by Flotation Energy and our partners Vårgrønn, is set to be the first commercial-scale floating offshore windfarm in Europe, and when complete is also set to be one of the world’s largest. Reducing one million tonnes of CO₂ each year, it will make a significant impact on both the UK & Scotland’s net zero targets and will catalyse a highly specialised floating wind supply chain in the UK that can be exported globally.
”“It was great to meet with the members of the Scottish Affairs Committee as they launch the committee’s inquiry into GB Energy and the net zero transition.
Flotation Energy is leading the way in the development of offshore wind projects in the North East of Scotland, and we believe it is important for political stakeholders at all levels to understand the role that Scotland’s offshore wind industry – and pioneering projects like Green Volt - can play in delivering the net zero transition."
