Last week we gave our full support in writing a letter to UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, calling for a renewed focus and commitment from government in the delivery of our net zero targets.
Alongside over 100 businesses, the open letter confirms businesses are ready to invest billions in delivering the transition to a low carbon economy and that the UK Government’s role is pivotal in keeping our climate commitments on track.
Featured in The Times newspaper on Wednesday 19 July, there is a consensus across the economy that faster action is required, with the solutions to tackling climate change available to us and having the great potential to generate growth and prosperity.
The letter, which was also sent to Grant Shapps, Secretary of State for the Department for Energy Security and net zero, and to The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt, urges government to seize the opportunity to provide the leadership and commitment required to drive the net Zero transition and safeguard our future prosperity.
Thank you to Energy Uk and Renewable Uk for bringing together some of the UK’s largest businesses in the letter’s wide cross-sector representation.
