It is clear that action is needed for the UK to meet its renewable energy targets.
During a visit to the Port of Aberdeen and Kincardine Offshore Windfarm last week, Managing Director, Barry McLeod and OEUK’s Director of Sustainability, Mike Tholen spoke to STV’s Haley Bouma about the challenges and solutions present in offshore wind’s supply chain.
The visit marked the launch of OEUK’s 2025 Offshore Wind Insight report, which warns that without action to address price inflation, capital cost and UK supply chain competitiveness, the UK will fail to meet the government’s Clean Power 2030 target of between 43 and 51 GW of installed offshore wind capacity.
”We need government support to increase the harbour capabilities for offshore wind. We see that as anchoring a lot of the supply chain and skills."

”We're looking to specialise in floating wind around the north of Scotland, not least here in Aberdeen...the single biggest thing people need is investor confidence, we need long term policies and a long term approach."
